Failed mot :(

There is a lesson to be learned here , get your MOT Booked in a month before it's expiry date , then if it passes great you get 13 months MOT , If it fails as in your case you are left with one months MOT to get the job done at your leaisure . I don't know why everyone leaves it to the last day to get their MOT done , IT's very rare to write out a MOT for 13 months time ... !

Not a bad fail and will be easy sorted. Hope you get it back on time.

Just spoken to a very nice man at the garage (I reccomend these guys - they are brilliant). He's done the bearing joint, parking light will take secinds. The trac rod will be there by 11am, he will replace and return the car to the mot station for me, than call when the mot cert and my fixed car are ready to collect! I'm really impressed! I agree totally that my lesson is learned. It's the first time I've taken a car through the mot, I didn't even know that I couldn't drive it after the failure! I'll book it in a month early next time. Carmen

Carmen, did it state on the MOT failure sheet which one of the track rods were scrap, if it didn’t, then poke the MOT man in the eye when you go back for the retest. Andy.

You can drive it after a failure - but only to take it for repairs/re-test So if you are caught you could just say your on the way to the garage - this doesn't wash at 2am in the morning - but you could just say your taking the scenic route at will arrive at a garage at 9am for the repairs! Your not forced to have the vehicle fixed there and then- you may not like the estimate for example - so you can drive home, then drive to another garage etc...
